Lauren Day Earns Second Consecutive All-American Honor, Eight Navy Rowers Named Scholar-Athletes

Midshipman Lauren Day has been named a second-team All-American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), becoming the first Navy women's rower to earn the accolade in consecutive seasons. Additionally, eight members of the Navy women's rowing program have been recognized as 2024 CRCA Scholar-Athletes.

Midshipman Lauren Day has etched her name in Navy women's rowing history once more, becoming the first rower to earn consecutive All-American honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Day, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was named a second-team All-American after helping Navy to a second-place finish in the Varsity Eight Grand Final at the 2023 NCAA Rowing Championships.

The honor is a testament to Day's exceptional contribution to the Mids' success this season. She rowed in the seven seat of Navy's Varsity Eight, which captured three gold medals at the Patriot League Championships, set a course record at the Head of the Charles Regatta, and reached the podium at the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history.

Day's prowess on the water extends beyond her All-American recognition. She is also an accomplished student, maintaining a 3.89 GPA in aerospace engineering. Her academic achievements have earned her a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Dean's List.

Navy's women's rowing program also celebrated the academic excellence of eight of its members, who were named 2024 CRCA Scholar-Athletes. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and rowed in at least 75% of the team's races during the spring season.

The eight Scholar-Athletes are:

* Midshipman 1/C Megan Agan

* Midshipman 2/C Abby Burkle

* Midshipman 2/C Olivia Carpenter

* Midshipman 3/C Maria Carracino

* Midshipman 1/C Emmaleigh Davis

* Midshipman 1/C Katherine DiStefano

* Midshipman 3/C Alyssa Frederick

* Midshipman 2/C Gabrielle Sciera

These student-athletes have demonstrated their commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, representing the core values of Navy rowing. Their dedication and hard work have contributed to the team's overall success and earned them recognition as outstanding student-athletes.

"Lauren's second All-American honor is a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport," said Navy women's rowing head coach Joe Schlosberg. "She has been a key contributor to our team's success this season, both on and off the water. We are extremely proud of her accomplishments."

"Our eight Scholar-Athletes have also set a commendable example for our program," Schlosberg continued. "Their ability to balance rigorous academic pursuits with the demands of Division I athletics is truly impressive. Their achievements reflect the values we strive to instill in our student-athletes, and we are grateful for their contributions to the team."
