The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a hurricane warning for Barbados, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines, as well as parts of Trinidad and Tobago. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for St. Lucia, Grenada, and parts of Venezuela.

Forecasters warn that Beryl is a potentially dangerous storm, with maximum sustained winds of up to 115 miles per hour (185 kilometers per hour). The hurricane is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flooding, and coastal erosion to affected areas.

Hurricane-force winds are expected to impact Barbados and the Windward Islands by Tuesday afternoon, with tropical storm-force winds extending even further. Residents in the path of the storm are advised to take precautions and heed evacuation orders if necessary.

The NHC advises coastal residents to prepare for rising seas, storm surge, and possible flooding. Those in low-lying areas should consider moving to higher ground.

Beryl is expected to continue on its northwestward trajectory, bringing potential threats to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas later this week. Forecasters urge residents in these areas to monitor the storm's progress and follow guidance from local officials.

The Atlantic hurricane season typically runs from June 1 to November 30, with peak activity occurring in August and September. Beryl is the first major hurricane of the season, highlighting the importance of coastal communities being prepared for potential storms.

Residents in the path of Hurricane Beryl should stay informed about the storm's progress, heed evacuation orders, and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
